As an alumna of Cornish College of the Arts, Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty broker Marianne Francis is passionate about supporting her alma mater and the students that grace its halls. In autumn 2017, she was proud to co-chair the school’s annual gala, which helped raise $677,000 to fund student scholarships. True to the Cornish heritage, the evening’s entertainment included performances by Lady Rizo, a Grammy-winning performance artist and alumna of the Theatre program, and Amy O’Neal, an award-winning dancer and choreographer.
Founded in the early 1900s by Nellie Cornish, the school is rooted in the idea that cross-disciplinary engagement, a la the Salon Society of Paris, is a critical way for artists to feed their creative endeavors. As indicated by their mission statement, Cornish aims to prepare each of its students to “contribute to society as artists, citizens and innovators.” Having celebrated their 100th year in 2014, the school has grown to encompass eight departments, from Art, Design, and Interior Architecture, to Theater, Performance Production, Music and Film. Francis has co-chaired five galas in total, raising $3.1 million to help students in the arts achieve their educational goals.
