Seattle home prices still leading year-over-year, but inch downward for a second month in a row

S&P/Case-Shiller’s Home Price Index for October 2017 showed the Seattle Metropolitan Area as remaining 12.7 percent higher than twelve months ago, and continuing to lead all Pacific Coast gateway cities as well as cities across the nation. However, this was the second straight month in which the Seattle index declined on a monthly basis, although by a shallower percentage (-0.07%) than the -0.28% seen in September. October’s decline appears to confirm the end of the historic 31-month streak of continuous price growth in the Puget Sound region, even while it retains its nationwide lead for a 14th consecutive month.

Seattle Times on The Seattle Condo Shortage

The condominium shortage is officially worse than it’s ever been in King County, as a lack of new construction and increasing demand continue in Seattle and the surrounding areas. As a recent Seattle Times article outlines, condo prices are rising even faster than single-family homes, with little relief in sight as developers continue to build apartments for rent rather than condominiums for sale. Looking at data from the past two decades, King County has averaged roughly 2,000 active condos on the market this time of year but now “it’s down to about 350, a record low.” Conditions have pushed the average sales price of a condominium up to just over $450,000, an increase of approximately $150,000 over three years.

Sammamish is Now the Third Wealthiest Zip Code in Washington State

In partnership with Esri, Puget Sound Business Journal ranked the wealthiest zip codes in Washington state, and found that Sammamish is now third, behind only Medina and Mercer Island at first and second, respectively. The report, which evaluated factors such as average net worth, median home prices and income, reveals that “the average net worth for Sammamish residents in 98074 increased by $60,000, reaching $1.67 million in 2016 from $1.61 million the year before.”

Stacy Lill & Stacy Jones, Co-Chairs of the Hotshot Crew Challenge, Ask for Donations to Support the “Red Hot Redmond Hotshots Team” October 18th to 27th

The Hotshot Crew Challenge is finally here and more than 40 King County leaders have aligned with local fire departments to compete for the coveted title of “Hotshot Crew 2017” in the Medic One Foundation’s annual challenge. The contest, which runs from October 18th to 27th, will raise funds to support the training and education of 24 new Medic One paramedics in addition to much-needed life-saving equipment. This year, Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty (RSIR) is thrilled to share that our Owner and Vice President, Stacy Jones, is a co-chair of the event along with Stacy Lill, Founder and CEO of Cashmere Consulting.
