Ni Hao, Seattle! We’re number one in the eyes of mainland Chinese homebuyers exploring overseas investment in real estate. That’s according to Juwai.com, a popular home search site within China, and this finding is tracking with other data points according to local brokers that specialize in international homebuyers.
About 150 Bainbridge Island residents and visitors dropped into Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty’s Island Living Gallery for the First Friday Art Walk on November 2nd, which featured visual artist Jen Till, photographer Barry Marcus, and music by the Speakeasy Jazz Cats. Guests enjoyed wine and good company as they immersed themselves in the Island’s thriving arts scene. Since RSIR relocated their office to the Old Hardware Store in downtown Winslow, the firm and its brokers have reveled in the opportunity to showcase artists working in a number of mediums in an even brighter spotlight.

Last week I attended Inman Luxury Connect 2017 held at the beautiful and iconic Beverly Hills Hotel in California. The timing was perfect as a bunch of rain was headed to Seattle on the morning we flew out. I woke up early and pumped to speak at the event: it was finally here! As part of their revolving monthly forum, founding members Brian O’Connor (O’Connor Consulting Group), Brian Evans (Madrona Financial Services), and Dean Jones (RSIR) kicked off their inaugural broker panel discussion with a focus on the downtown Seattle housing market, with an emphasis on the effects of job growth, empty nesters downsizing, and the additional draws of downtown living. The conversation was particularly relevant, as the event was hosted in the Sales Center for NEXUS, the only condominium project expected to deliver with occupancy in 2019.

RSIR brokers Moira Holley, Anton Krivenyshev and Brian Hopper recently attended the 2017 GeekWire Summit, which took place in downtown Seattle October 10th and 11th. One of the country’s premier technology conferences, the annual Summit brings together over 900 innovators, entrepreneurs, business executives, and tech leaders to explore the future of the innovation economy. Given the influence technology continues to have on the evolving real estate industry and the Emerald City’s economy, it was an excellent opportunity to learn from some of the best in tech.
The Pinnacle at Alki Announces Priority Presales Event on October 14th
The meteoric rise in local property prices and the stresses associated with buying in today’s real estate market have been well articulated by the Seattle Times, which followed a home in West Seattle through listing to close, and proclaimed that millennials and some first-time buyers are “coming to grips with the reality that they simply can’t save up quickly enough to match the rise in home costs.” Though the market conditions may seem daunting to potential buyers, brokers say unit reservations and presales offer a much needed relief for those that can plan ahead.
From September 20th to 22nd, a collective of real estate agents from Washington state convened at the 2017 Washington REALTORS® Fall Business Conference to discuss a variety of topics, from legislative steering and professional standards, to regional roundtables for a more local focus. Michael X. Ford, Designated Broker and Seattle Branch Manager of Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty (RSIR) joined brokers Bob Wold, Eddie Chang and Jason Gibbons for the event, which was held in Pasco. Chang, who is based out of RSIR’s Kirkland office, also celebrated his graduation from the 2017 Leadership Institute, a program that motivates a select group of brokers to build upon their leadership skills and “exert a strong, positive influence on the future of the Association” and the broader real estate profession as a whole.
