The Hotshot Crew Challenge is finally here and more than 40 King County leaders have aligned with local fire departments to compete for the coveted title of “Hotshot Crew 2017” in the Medic One Foundation’s annual challenge. The contest, which runs from October 18th to 27th, will raise funds to support the training and education of 24 new Medic One paramedics in addition to much-needed life-saving equipment. It’s no surprise that the Pacific Northwest’s Silicon Forest is growing, as tech giants are expanding their current offices or opening new branches in downtown Seattle and along the Eastside’s tech corridor to leverage talent on both sides of the lake. Last year, Microsoft renewed leases in Redmond and Bellevue, while Google opened a Kirkland campus expansion that made it the company’s third-largest engineering center in the country. And earlier this month, Amazon opened its first Eastside office at Centre 425 in Bellevue to help employees combat commute times between downtown Seattle and the Eastside’s communities.
