An Evening Of Cocktails & Conversations At “Maison Des Volets” With Angela McAteer Of The Sotheby’s Auction House

By Amanda Lybeck |

On Thursday June 2nd, a collective of Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty (RSIR) brokers and other distinguished guests met at the stunning “Maison des Volets,” listed by RSIR broker Jay Kipp, for an evening of Cocktails & Conversations. From 7 to 9pm, the over 60 attendees drank local wine and snacked on light bites as they mingled and listened to a presentation by Angela McAteer, the Vice President Head of Department, Chinese Works of Art, for the Sotheby’s Auction House.

McAteer, who was in the Seattle area to valuate and collect pieces for the upcoming “Asia Week” auctions discussed her West Coast experience, the auction, and a few of her favorite pieces.

“It was a privilege to host both brokers and clients alike at the first auction house event to be held at an active listing,” said Jay Kipp, Broker with RSIR. “This is the magic of the Sotheby’s International Realty brand: fusing a variety of lifestyle interests for our clientele to create worthwhile experiences.”

“We love hosting the Sotheby’s Auction House for events,” said Andrea Savage, Vice President of Marketing for RSIR. “Not only did we get the opportunity to learn more about the ‘Asia Week’ auction, we got an in-depth understanding of Angela McAteer’s expertise in Chinese Works of Art that fascinated our brokers and clientele.”

As the evening ended, guests watched the sky take on a pink hue while the sun melted below the skyline. “After the event, my client approached me to share that they didn’t think selling a property could be this much fun,” said Kipp. “The exposure we generated simply couldn’t be achieved by any other company as the evening gave a few interested parties the opportunity for an up-close and personal experience at ‘Maison des Volets.’ This is the new business of real estate.”

Prominent local media attention has further fueled interest in “Maison des Volets,” as both the Seattle PI and Curbed Seattle recently featured the home.
