On Friday July 6th, the Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty Bainbridge Island office hosted an evening of art and community at the First Friday Art Walk, welcoming hundreds to enjoy a collective of featured artists and live jazz music.
Bainbridge Island Office Manager Marilyn Turner and broker Meg Burkett poured glasses of wine for guests to sip on as they perused the art and listened to two stellar sets put on by the Speakeasy Jazz Cats.

Town & Country Market provided a lovely charcuterie platter for guests to enjoy while Turner & Burkett poured wine as the Speakeasy Jazz Cats played.

Lily, the unofficial band mascot, quickly made friends with everyone in the office.
In addition to the activities located within the RSIR office at the Old Hardware Store, Bainbridge Arts & Humanities gave free trolley rides around town to show visitors three new sculptures that are on loan for the next year as part of the “Something New” project, a collaboration with the City of Bainbridge Island incorporating art by Will Robinson, Gerry Newcomb, and Lin McJunkin and Milo White. They also provided free samples of Mora Iced Creamery delights, including an unforgettable mango sorbet with flakes of chocolate.
Among the featured artists was Carl Sussman, who was recently appointed Brand Manager for the Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty Bainbridge Island office. As an avid painter, Chair of the Public Arts Committee and Board Member of Bainbridge Arts & Humanities, Sussman will play an integral role in the firm’s participation within the Island’s thriving art community, and the Art Walk served as an excellent first event for him to engage with the visitors in his new role.
July Featured Artists
Carl Sussman
“Twenty years ago, I took a bike ride that changed my life. While on vacation from my native Ohio, I embarked on a bicycle tour that brought me to Bainbridge Island. Every turn of the road revealed a scene lovelier than the last. The Island’s strong sense of community was as refreshing as it is rare.” – Carl Sussman

Amos Laurel Staffler
“I paint in abstract to get to a place that words don’t reach. Without words, experience cuts a different path to intimacy, using subjective interpretation and connection.
I was born with one seeing eye and as a result, no true ‘depth perception.’ My paintings explore my interpretation of the concept of depth. They invite the viewer to look past the surface to the deeper beyond. My technique is my own, evolved from my origin in a family of artists, through formal training, a chronic, unrelenting curiosity, and years of work. In a piece-specific approach, I start with canvas or wood panel and apply layers and remove layers with multiple mediums.” – Amos Staffler

Pam Sproul
“I am passionate about living on an island where harbors abound and there is constant reflection of light off of the water. I see beautiful images daily and I hope that you too will enjoy having a piece of this beautiful island in your home.” – Pam Sproul
