Global Real Estate Advisor Sean Nielsen, who leads the Nielsen RE Group, recently provided fellow brokers with “4 Tips for Helping Your Urban Clients Find their Ideal Second-Home Market” in a featured piece for Inman.
Sean, who can often be found on the Eastside representing the luxurious golf homes of Newcastle, in addition to other breathtaking estates, has also been helping his buyers navigate the second-home market. In our region, he has united buyers and sellers with mountain homes, and among them, some in Suncadia, a mountain resort outside of Cle Elum. He’s also helped his clients discover homes on the Baja California Peninsula. His tips for brokers include representing second-home markets in places where they’ve had a transformative experience, for him, that includes destinations like Suncadia or the stunning Mexico waterfront. Then, as he works with clients, he can clearly see if one of these locales will be the right fit.

But just because one second-home market has a lot to offer, doesn’t mean it will work for everyone. That’s why Sean’s tips include “Understanding the wish list for today’s busy buyers”—considering a home that is far away but not too far, that it feels like home, and that it’s a change of scenery and season.
Sean also collaborates with fellow brokers who live in that particular second-home market. He believes that is key for helping find the right second home.
