In a recent feature on Seattle Refined, Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty Broker Nancy Klinck opened the door to the historic Interlaken Drive Manor with a full tour of the Capitol Hill home and its grounds, and a video call from rock star owner Ann Wilson of Heart. As the article outlines, the home “was first built as a hotel a century ago, and later owned by the first female architect to graduate from the University of Washington [the famed Elizabeth Ayer]. Then Wilson called it home for three decades, during the height of her Heart career. Needless to say, every room has a story.”
“There’ve been celebrities through this home since its inception,” Klinck tells Seattle Refined. On a video conference call from her home in Florida, Wilson said members of Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Mud Honey, Nirvana and Alice in Chains had all graced its walls.
From her Florida home, Wilson reminisced on the happy memories made during the thirty years she lived at Interlaken Drive Manor.
“It is bittersweet because I love the house, I love the land it sits on,” said Wilson. “The land is just my favorite part really, [it’s] magical. It’s like living in a secret garden because it’s so isolated on Capitol Hill, in the middle of the city, yet you don’t know you’re in the city — you just think you’re in the forest.”
Stately and elegant, Interlaken Drive Manor is steeped in luxurious details. The original old-growth plank fir and oak hardwood floors grace the home and original cabinetry has been refurbished and maintained — a testament to the 106-year-old craftsmanship. From its beginnings as The Boulevard Inn, to the Rock ‘n Roll era of its previous Hall of Fame owner, Interlaken Drive Manor is a glorious untamed contrast within itself.
