From the personal collection of one of America’s most famous living fashion designers to rare wines, an original 1962 Beatles demo, and live-doodler, found in the exhibition halls of New York, London, and Hong Kong, here’s a look at just some of special auctions and events slated for Sotheby’s Auction Houses in December.
The highlight of this sale is Ian Fleming and his wife Ann’s correspondence spanning the course of their relationship. Additional items include Shakespeare’s second folio from the Library at Spetchley Park.
The collection of designer Marc Jacobs features an impressive assembly of contemporary art and design from the past century and put together over the past two decades, and is emblematic of his discerning eye as both a designer and connoisseur.
This two-day auction features parcel quantities of perfectly stored Bordeaux from 1982, 1985, 1986, 1989 and 1990, followed by a celebration of collections boasting the greatest producers from the world’s finest wine regions. This is Sotheby’s last wine auction of the fall season.
Featuring pieces across the entirety of the Beatle’s performing career, including John Lennon’s sunglasses and George Harrison’s necklace, are just a couple of the many items featured. This auction’s highlight is Brian Epstein’s copy of the 1962 Decca Audition tape.
Often described as ‘Graffiti Spaghetti’, Sam Cox (Mr Doodle) is the creator of his own, iconic DoodleLand “manifesting his vision of the world, where dense clusters of characters, objects, and patterns grow and multiply relentlessly.” In addition to exhibiting works, there will be live doodling by the artist on Dec. 6.
From vintage and antique jewelry to precious gemstones and exceptional signed jewels, the collection up for auction includes an array of colored diamonds, as well as pieces from Cartier, Harry Winston, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Tiffany & Co.
