The Beijing Sotheby’s International Realty team hosted RSIR guests Dean and Stacy Jones, Denise Seavitt, Lili Shang and Scott Wasner to view two ultra-exclusive residences to showcase the diversity of real estate offerings within China’s capital city. Truly the only attribute they had in common was their price – both were very expensive by US standards.
Busy Beijing arterials led to a windy, private road and the front gate of GoLou Courtyard – a walled property that hid a magnificent work of art. The Gulou mansion is a traditional Beijing-courtyard style home of 1,606 square meters. It’s located on Gulou West Street in the Xiheng district – one of the most famous historical zones of Beijing. There are many historical attractions near the property. Despite being a vintage property, thoughtful and comfortable features like an elevator, home theater room and radiant floor heating systems were incorporated into the property when it was substantially renovated and fully restored over the past year. The asking price is $250 million RMB, which is approximately $40 million USD.

The second property is a new construction high rise condominium. Imperial Axis is located at the north end of 2nd ring road, Beijing, which is a great location alongside a beautiful river (was once the moat that protected the Forbidden City) and is just minutes to many of Beijing’s historical landmarks. There are only 30 apartments and lofts remaining in the mansion building where every home feels like a penthouse. Floor plans range from 460 ㎡ to 620 ㎡ and the property we toured was offered at $75 million RMB, which is about $12 million USD.
