City for the Senses

No visit to Shanghai would be complete without experiencing the many sights and sounds of this incredible metropolis of more than 20 million people. Best known for being the most “western” of all major cities in China, modern Shanghai was effectively built within the last 20 years. Of course it boasts all the brand names, international demographics and panache that you’d expect from a world-class city. However there’s a wonderful balance of old and new sprinkled throughout Shanghai. Most notably The Bund – the crown jewel of region – is a collection of historic buildings that are beautifully preserved along the Huangpu River. This entertainment area stands in stark contrast to the modern high-rises across the river in the Pudong District. Most of these landmark buildings now comprise of hip restaurants, fashionable shops, private social clubs and dynamic nightclubs.
