Earlier this week, the Seattle PI featured “Maison des Volets,” a stunning Mercer Island waterfront home listed by Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty broker Jay Kipp. In the feature, entitled “French chateau on Mercer Island,” Kirsten O’Brien says that living in this home is “like living on a little slice of the French countryside.”

O’Brien notes that given its appointment on the shores of Mercer Island, it isn’t much of a surprise that it “has all the usual trappings of a luxury property — a private dock with year-round moorage, 61 feet of shoreline and a guest cottage with a full kitchen.” The true highlights come in the incomparable attention to detail, as “old-growth fir imported from Canada frame the dining room, while the living room is anchored by an 18th century fireplace carved from limestone imported from France’s Loire Valley.”
And the cherry on top? “As with any true chateau, the grand staircase in the entryway ties the home together. According to the home’s website, the steps are made of solid, wide-plank fir and the banister is made from wrought iron molded in a floral pattern as a nod to French architecture.”
