Often considered a part of the larger Ballard area of Seattle, Whittier Heights is a residential community bounded to the west by 15th Ave NW, north by NW 85th St, east by 8th Ave NW, south by NW 65th St.
Much of the neighborhood is dotted with Craftsman-style and Traditional houses, many of which were built in the first half of the 20th century. A few mid-century modern nods break up the landscape, along with newer construction that has often taken advantage of the older home’s full-sized lot, tearing down smaller houses to create living opportunities that maximize square footage in the Northwest Contemporary style.
Its location in Seattle is highly desirable. A few restaurants, including Delancey’s, The Fat Hen, and Rosellini’s bakery on 70th Street are destination eats that draw in more than just the local crowd. And this pocket neighborhood’s easy access to more bustling retail cores is also appealing, including daytime and evening destinations in Greenwood, Ballard, and Phinney Ridge. The area is also an easy distance from Sunset Hill Park, a small park that overlooks the Shilshole Bay Marina and Golden Gardens.
