“This is a floating home like no other, it’s truly one of one. It’s art that you live in and should be considered in this way. When I come for showings […] I truly want to be here as long as possible,” global real estate advisor Moira Holley told KING 5’s Evening.
The home’s creative owners, Russ and Gemma, spoke with the show about the studs out renovation, in which they partnered with Graham Baba Architects to create a reverse floor plan that maximized the view, featuring a great room floor-to-ceiling doors opening to the full-width deck.
“We wanted a house that was fun,” Russ told KING 5. And in creating that atmosphere, their perfect collaborator was architect Jim Graham. By using built-ins to maximize space, they left plenty of room to create a sense of home filled with style art, and the things that brought them joy.
One of Gemma’s favorite pieces can be found in the primary suite bathroom, where situated next to a double-head shower is a horse trough that their roofing guy added a waterproof membrane inside, making it her perfect water-tight soaking tub.
And on the Fourth of July, there’s no better place to host a party than their rooftop. The entire top of their home is a perfect entertaining space, that can hold over 100 guests, and is complete with (what is believed to be) the only diving board off of a Seattle floating home.
“Even though we’re in the city, the lake just has this quiet, peaceful effect,” says Gemma.
