A largely agricultural town, Ferndale provides excellent opportunities for those who are interested in homes with acreage. Located north of Bellingham along I-5, Ferndale’s population nears 14,000, and is also appealing for its close proximity to Vancouver, BC. The Nooksack River runs through town and the city’s rail bridge that crosses the water is one of its iconic images.
Named for the ferns that once grew around the town’s original schoolhouse, its proximity to all that Northwest Washington has to offer is part of its appeal. Just 13 miles south of the Canadian border, residents here are also within easy distance of Bellingham, Mount Baker, the San Juan Islands, and an abundant collection of outdoor opportunities.
