For those who seek small-town appeal in a quiet and peaceful locale surrounded by fields, trees, gardens, and fine Pacific Northwest vistas, it’s time to experience Milton. Located in the heart of Pierce County, with Federal Way to the north, Edgewood to the east, Puyallup to the south, Fife to the west, and Tacoma to the northwest. Now a bedroom community, with many residents commuting to larger metropolitan centers for work, only a few landscapes remain of the town’s roots. A mill was constructed in the 1890s, towering among evergreens on a hill overlooking the Puyallup Valley. Mill Town, as it was known then, was made up of a handful of homesteaders. The town grew with the construction of the Interurban Railway in the early 1900s, and it was incorporated in 1907. In the modern era, a $1.8 million sewer project spurred economic and geographic growth.
