Sumner

With a population of about 10,000 and approximately 3,000 households, the hamlet of Sumner sparkles as a smalltown escape in northern Pierce County. Set up ideally for commuting to Tacoma and Seattle because of its location on the Sounder Train route, residents can easily pivot to a metro area for work if they please. The community is proud of its history, detailed at the Ryan House Museum. Young and old gather in city parks for special events to enjoy a beautiful day at the playground. And of course, residents are never far from the outdoor recreation treasured by PNWers, with Lake Tapps to the east and an abundance of hiking trails in the city and the surrounding communities.
