A Pacific Northwest native, Summer is a graduate of Western Washington University where she earned degrees in economics and environmental studies. She is an avid traveler and has lived in Central America and Italy. In 2015 Summer and her family took a year to travel the world and experience time on four continents. During this time, she honed her creative problem-solving skills, exceptional communication skills in both English and Spanish, and the ability to keep calm under pressure. When exploring her own backyard, Summer is often found skiing, hiking, running, or doing yoga, and supports her community through local food banks and Food Lifeline. She lives in Northeast Seattle with her husband, two teenage children, and their dog, Luna.
