Sotheby’s Auction House Events | March 2019

From American Art in New York City to Jewels in Milan and RM Sotheby’s in Florida, here’s a look at what’s happening at Sotheby’s Auction House in March.

3.5   |   Contemporary Curated   London, UK

An evening auction will present works that span from the post-war era to today, with awe-inspiring pieces by Jenny Saville, Gerhard Richter, Marlene Dumas, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Roy Lichtenstein, among others.

3.6   |   American Art   New York, USA

The Sotheby’s American Art sale will feature a wonderful collection of sculpture, paintings and works on paper including Milton Avery’s Portrait of the Artist’s Daughter Reading and Andrew Wyeth’s Cordwood.

3.8 – 3.9   |   RM Sotheby’s: Amelia Island   Florida, USA

The RM Sotheby’s Amelia Island Sale has established a precedent in market leadership. Now in its 21st year, 2019 will be no different. From American Classics to Ferrari’s Finest, auto enthusiasts will not want to miss this event.

3.8 – 3.14   |   Jewels: Online   Milan, ITA

The spring shopping season will begin with an online auction of jewels from March 8th to 14th with a carefully curated collection of jewelry and cufflinks dated from the 19th century and into today, with pieces by Facchini, Aramaldo Pomodoro, Bulgari, Cartier and beyond.

3.18   |   Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art   New York, USA

The Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art auction will include art from renowned and avant-garde Indian artists, in addition to a selection of pieces from the Bengal School of Art. The auction’s highlight is a 1948 Francis Newton Souza painting, entitled Golgotha in Goa.

3.19   |   Junkunc: Arts of Ancient China   New York, USA

Sotheby’s presents an impressive collection of Chinese weapons, jade animals, gilt-bronzes, Buddhist sculpture and pottery. Collected by Stephen Junkunc III, the works are an in-depth look at China’s antiquity, with pieces that date from the Neolithic to Tang Dynasty periods.

3.26   |   Prints & Multiples   London, UK

Representing 500 years of art history, the Prints & Multiples auction highlights key Old Master, Modern and Contemporary works. Key pieces included in the auction are German expressionist woodcuts, including Ernst Ludwig Kirchner’s Die Brücke.

3.27   |   Collection Marianne et Pierre Nahon   Paris, FRA

After decades of careful curation, renowned collectors Pierre and Marianne Nahon have made the decision to auction their impressive collection, which includes works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Larry Rivers, George Segal and more.
